Location : North West Persia

Description : The predominantely Geometric designs from the Karaja area are very similar to that of nearby Heriz.  The ground colours are usually dark,  either terracotta or blue.  while the medallions and border designs are usually in far more vibrant colours including soft blues green and yellows.  Mainly rugs and small runners are available varying in quality,  although most Karaja rugs have quite a coarse finish.

The runner shown above is most typical of Karaja runners,  both in colour and design.
