Location : Western Persia,  south of Hamadan

Description :  This type of carpet is generally one of two types,  the first being a full field decoration of floral motifs based on Persian designs,  most commonly the geometric Herati design.  The second has a full medallion,  usually with a contrasting colour,  the edge of which is usually surrounded by a zig zag or jagged border.  The design of Fereghans has been long recognised in England and the rest of Europe as one of the most decorative carpets,  somewhat due to the capability to make very large carpets.

Specification: Loom - vertical. Warp - cotton, though occasionally wool is found. Weft - cotton or wool; two threads. Pile - Wool. Knot - Asymmetrical
